Located on the east side of the Indo-Chinese peninsula, Vietnam is an S-shaped country with a long coast line bordering the Gulf of Thailand, Gulf of Tonkin and the South China Sea.
More than 25 percent of its land is under cultivation. Vietnam comprises tropical lowlands, thickly forested highlands and flat level land covering 20% of the area.
Situated in the north are the highlands and the Red River delta, the Chaine Mountains in the Central region and low coastal lands and the Mekong River delta in the south.
A must for tourists is the spectacular Ban Gioc Waterfalls north of Hanoi. The Embassy of India has its address in Ha Noi.
